about

CTRL discusses empowerment and frustration of women today, highlighting the power of diverse community and strength in numbers.

Sarah explains:

“I wrote this song about fighting against those who bind you and I feel like it takes twice as much effort for my voice to be heard as a woman and even then it's often times not taken seriously. We need to be valuing women's voices and perspectives and listening more. It all starts with listening.

We are witnessing the emergence of a powerful movement, led by women, on behalf of women, who are determined to seize power from the male-dominated establishment. I hope this video continues that movement.“

The song's accompanying video was inspired by the Brett Kavanaugh case, with Sarah propelled to do something to help create more awareness and drive change.

Zoe Travis, writer and director of the video, says:

“The experience of shooting this was incredible, we cast about 50 women-identified cast members who were very passionate about the project's message.”

lyrics

I kept my demons far behind
Yeah but now I see them close
I’m scared I’m running out of time
Time, time, time

I just can’t feel things anymore
You wanna take control
I just can’t feel much anymore
Anymore, more…

You tell to need ya like
Breathin' right
Tell me to feel it right
Tell me to give you more
You just want more

I searched for answers I could find
When I should have let you go
Before you made me lose my mind
Mind, mind, mind…

I just can’t feel things anymore
You wanna take control
I just can’t feel much anymore
Anymore, more…

You tell to need ya like
Breathin' right
Tell me to feel it right
Tell me to give you more
You just want more

Who was I before you came around?
Who was I before you brought me down?
I can’t seem to find my way back now
Who was I?
